Internationally-Registered Trademark for Egyptian Farm Produce
01-Jul-2003
The Council for Farm Produce Commodities, and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, is examining the possibility of issuing an internationally-registered trademark and logo to be fixed on products and exports of Egyptian farm produce.
Sharif Rashed, the Executive Director of the Council, indicated that the proposed trademark to be fixed on the respective products will be similar to the internationally-recognized Egyptian cotton trademark.
On the other hand, and in collaboration with Ministries of Agriculture and Commerce of foreign countries, the Council will set up offices for issuing licensing certificates and registration of Egyptian farm products. This will be carried out through provisions regulating circulation and production of such products and compliance with international specifications and standards.
The said offices will replace the European Office branches operating in Egypt and who will instead issue the licensing certificates of farm products. This will enable the Egyptian companies to have access to international markets and be able to export their goods globally, particularly to Europe.
