Jordan Activates Regulations of Patent Examination

AMMAN – The Industrial Property Protection Directorate (IPPD), affiliate to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply in Jordan has decided to activate Article 20 of the Jordanian Patent Regulation, where it is required to pay examination fees.
According to a circulation received from the IPPD, the decision will be implemented with a retroactive effect on all pending applications filed starting from December 9, 2018, as long as their filing formalities are completed.
Accordingly, it is now expected by all patent applicants to attend to the examination payment for all their pending applications, otherwise, the Registrar will send an invitation to the applicant requesting him to pay the fees for examination of the patent within 60 days, and non-compliance with the same will result in abandoning the application.
