AGIP Participates in AIPLA Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) represented by its Vice-President Marketing and Executive Director, Mr. Nabil Salamé, National Business Development Executive Director, Mr. Motasem Abu-Ghazaleh, and Executive Director of AGIP Ottawa office, Mr. Ahmad Al-Zou’bi, participated in American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) 2018 Annual meeting which was held in Washington D.C., October 25-27, 2018.

The meeting, which gathered more than 1500 participants from all over the world, was an excellent opportunity to meet with friends, colleagues and IP professionals from different communities and share with them the latest developments in AGIP and TAG-Org.

Various subjects relating to The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), Patent Eligibility, Obviousness, Software, Licensing and Patent Litigation were explored during the sessions and educational panels. The impact of the newest advancements in technology like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on IP law, and the impact of international law updates and rules on IP practice were also discussed. 

During this event, the AIPLA’s IP Practice Arabian Countries Subcommittee, co-chaired by Mr. Nabil Salamé and Mr. Motasem Abu-Ghazaleh, organized a panel on the IP protection and enforcement in the Arab Region. The panel was moderated by Ms. Hala Mourad, from Washington D.C. and featured three speakers:

Mr. Ahmad Al-Zou’bi, from Ottawa, Canada, Mr. Ahmad Saleh, from Dubai, UAE and Mr. Namir Sioufi, from Beirut, Lebanon.

Moreover, Mr. Motasem Abu-Ghazaleh also participated in a panel organized by AIPLA’s mentoring committee and spoke about cultural sensitivity in the Arab countries.
