05-Oct-2010

HARARE – Abu-Ghazaleh intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to inform its clients that the Government of Zimbabwe has announced that the Trademarks Amendment Act No. 10 of 2001 is now operational following publication in the Official Gazette. The Act came into effect as September 10, 2010.

This decision came following years of consultations with stakeholders on the proposed regulations.

According to an official in the Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office, the amendments were made because the parent Act of 1996 was limited in scope; therefor the stakeholders have worked on amendments in order to capture all Intellectual Proeprty that was ommited in the Parent Act.
