Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of UAE Released Information for First Sunrise Period of .emarat (UAE IDN) Launch

DUBAI - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to inform its clients that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of United Arab Emirates has released new information regarding the Sunrise periods for the launch of .emarat (UAE IDN). The First Sunrise Period shall last from October 17, 2010 until December 15, 2010.

Regarding .emarat eligibility for the First Sunrise phase, the priorities for Trademark acceptance shall be as follows:

1- Trademarks registered in the Arabic script by a UAE Government Entity;
2- Trademarks registered in the Arabic script in the UAE;
3- Trademarks registered in the Arabic script in other jurisdictions;
4- Trademarks registered in other scripts in the UAE;
5- Trademarks registered in other scripts in other member states of the League of Arab States.


Also note that they are accepting the transliteration and translation of the Latin marks.
