Kazakhstan to Accede to Madrid Protocol
22-Sep-2010 GENEVA - The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presented his compliments for the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on September 8, 2010, of its instrument of accession to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989 ("Madrid Protocol (1989)").
The Madrid Protocol (1989) will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Kazakhstan, on December 8, 2010.
Both the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol constitute the Madrid System of International Registration of Marks. This system gives a trademark owner the possibility to have his mark protected in several countries by simply filing one application with a single office, in one language, with one set of fees in one currency (Swiss francs).
