AGIP Attends MARQUES Annual Meeting and PTMG Conference

BRIGHTON, UK and LISBON, PORTUGAL -The Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) represented by its Clients Relations Department Manager, Ms. Dima Naber, attended the 23rd MARQUES Annual Meeting under the theme “Sustainable Brand: A Luxury or a Necessity” in Brighton, UK, September 15-18, 2009 and the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group (PTMG) 79th Conference at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal, September 30 – October 3, 2009.

The first event shed light on the responsibility of brand owners as the climate system moves beyond the patterns of natural variability within which societies and economies have developed and thrived.

“Several sessions were conducted tackling important issues; most important of which is “Sustainability: Luxury or Necessary” which discussed why consumers select companies with sustainable credentials; global trends, what market research tells trademark and brand specialists and how companies can review their band protection programs to move to more sustainable platforms,” Naber said.

The event also witnessed many workshops such as; Picking up where trademarks leave off, AdWords and Trademarks as well as Advertising of health benefits in the food business workshop.

During the last day of the event, participants were briefed on the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the new generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) program since ICANN plans to expand the domain name system through an open application process that could see 500 new registries created in the next two years.

Meanwhile, the PTMG Conference entitled “Change, Challenge and Compare! Perspectives on Pharmaceutical Trademarks” examined a diverse range of topics which have real relevance to businesses today delivered by a group of distinguished speakers.

From her part, Naber highly commended the participation in the two meetings saying that “such events add to your knowledge and update you with the latest developments in the field of branding and pharmaceutical trademarks; thus, enabling you to transfer such valuable information to your country in order to be utilized wisely.”
