In an aim to update the registration process the Trademark Registrar in Saudi Arabia has agreed to implement certain aspects of Paris Convention that are allowed by law.
1. Priority documents maybe submitted within 3 months of the filing date in Saudi Arabia.
2. Priority documents maybe submitted without legalization by a Saudi Arabian consulate provided they are certified by the Trademark Office of the country of priority.
3. Any applicant claiming priority from an application in a country that is party to the World Trade Organization will not have to submit a statement of reciprocal treatment. Originally the only countries that were not to submit this type of statement were Austria, France, Germany, Singapore and the United States of America.
4. The Registrar accepts priority claims for all unaccepted applications available at the trademark office if the date of issuance of the priority document is within three months from the filing in Saudi Arabia.
