WASHINGTON, DC – Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) represented by its Deputy Chair Ms. Samar Al-Labbad and Mr. Charles Shaban, AGIP executive director participated in the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI) World Congress held June 7 - 10 in Washington DC.
“The event was a great chance to meet mainly law firms from around the world for patent related issues and keep abreast of new developments that help in making impact on future legislation,” Mr. Shaban said.
“Sessions were very informative on the different Intellectual Property services and mainly patents where some sessions shed light on the obstacles patent offices around the world encounter by being overloaded with a mountain of work, and years pass before patents are issued,” he added.
The sessions of FICPI Congress were wide ranging, touching every area of the fast changing Intellectual Property (IP) field such as: Are Patents Worth the Cost of Obtaining Them?, How Can I Best Protect My Intellectual Property?, Being a Business Partner With Your Client, Do Business Methods and Software Patents Make Sense, Combating Counterfeiting, Where Is Design Protection Valuable, IP Valuation, IP Auctions, IP Licensing and Work/Life Balance in a Virtual World.
The theme of the Congress was the continuing relevance of IP rights in a global economy.
FICPI holds the World Congress every three years, attendance of which is restricted to FICPI members only. Next Congress is scheduled to be held in Australia in 2012.
