AGIP Participates in the Intellectual Property Rights Week in Lebanon

Organized by the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade in collaboration with the USAID Project to Support Lebanon’s Accession to the WTO, the Intellectual Property Rights Week (IPRW) was held at the premises of the Economic and Social Council in Beirut from May 3 - 7, 2004. 

The five-day event aimed at initiating a dialogue between stakeholders from the public and private sectors on IPR issues in Lebanon. It brought together IP experts, businessmen, government officials, and representatives from the private sector in the field of pharmaceutical and information technology industries.

Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade, Mr. Marwan Hamade, President of the Economic and Social Council, Mr. Roger Nasnas and the US Ambassador, Mr. Vincent Battle spoke at the opening session of the IPRW.

Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP), delivered a lecture on Intellectual Property Rights and Health. 

The IPRW covered much valuable ground tackling several aspects surrounding intellectual property rights and consumer protection, copyrights, audiovisual works and information technology.
