AGIP Participates in IPRs Events in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Pakistan Office Manager Mr. Aamir Khan participated in the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) - Pakistan National Conference held on April 27, 2009 in Islamabad.

The one-day conference, organized by the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan, MediaMark and MicroSol, aimed at bridging the communication gap between the government and the private sector, underlining the economic loss and damage to the consumer rights, proposing a special task force to harness active support to and from the government in addition to urging both the government and the private sector to communicate more frequently.

Attending the Conference were Mr. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Prime Minister of Pakistan and Mr. Syed Khalid Mehmood Bukhari IPO Director General who highlighted the role of government and its commitment in enforcement of IPRs with support of all designated agencies.

This is first IPRs National Conference in Pakistan specifically focusing on the menace of counterfeiting and violations of IPRs in the country.

The Main speakers including Minister of Interior Mr. Rehman Malik, Minister of Finance Mr. Naveed Qamar, Director of the Federal Investigative Agency Mr. Tariq Khosa, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue Mr. Ahmed Waqar tackled other significant IPRs related issues in Pakistan.

As a member of the IPRs sub-committee Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mr. Khan took part in another IPRs awareness seminar organized by the Karachi Chamber on April 25, 2009 and attended by the Registrar of Trademark and Controller of Patents in addition to other officials and experts.
