AGIP Oman Office Attends the Workshop: “Benefits of the Patent Cooperation Treaty on the National Economy”

MUSCAT – Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Oman office attended the workshop of: “Benefits of the Patent Cooperation Treaty on the National Economy”, organized and supported by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which was held in Muscat, Oman, March 18 – 20, 2018.

The workshop was attended by representatives from government agencies, the private sector, a number of inventors, academics, and research centers. The workshop discussed a number of topics, including the current status of the patent system in the Sultanate, the different systems of filing and the conditions for granting the patent. Also, It discussed the main benefits of the PCT at the national and international levels, as well as how to use PCT as a search engine to transfer knowledge, technology and experience.

Mr. Naji Taha, AGIP Oman office Executive Director commented: “We need to get up to date in order to be able to deal with the current issues in the field of intellectual property, and being informed regarding the current cases of patents would help us provide our clients with more efficient services and exceed their expectations.”
