The year 2001 witnessed the amending of the copyright law and regulations protecting computer software. With the Trademark Law amended on October 27, 2001, a natural person is now entitled to
apply for registration of trademark, the coverage of trademarks is expanded, judicial review is made available and enforcement of protection is strengthened.
The amendments of the copyright law included an expansion of the subject matter of copyright, clarification of property right under copyright, clarification of the legal status of collective copyright
management organizations, relaxation of limitations on copyright and a strengthened enforcement of the protection of copyright.
As far as the amended regulations on the protection of computer software is concerned, rights are expanded, the term of copyright protection is extended, the “fair use” of computer software becomes limited and enforcement of protection is strengthened.
