AGIP Takes Part in INTA’s 130th Annual Meeting in Berlin

AMMAN - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) took part in the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) 130th Annual Meeting that was held in Berlin, Germany, May 17-21, 2008.

Highlighting the importance of participation in this one must-attend event in the Intellectual Property industry, AGIP Executive Director, Charles Sha'ban, said, “The annual meeting was a great venue that has created the opportunity for us to meet our clients in person and discuss matters of interest with them.”

Sha’ban added that AGIP team has conducted more than 200 meetings with clients, in addition to getting to know and networking with new colleagues and clients.

The five-day meeting featured a dynamic mix of educational sessions and discussion forums on a wide variety of trademark law and related issues, covering global branding, global trademark clearance and protection.

“Each day was packed with interactive and informative workshops that have brought up the latest on hot topics and regional issues,” he pointed out.

This year’s programs also focused on a variety of topics including dormant marks, trademark protection, global sports sponsorships, geographical indications, the Internet and parallel imports, as well as a series of regional updates for Africa, China, the European Community, the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

The keynote speech in this year’s meeting was delivered by Executive Vice President of Henkel KGaA, Hans Van Bylen, where he discussed brand management and global trademark protection.

INTA’s 131st Annual Meeting will be held in Seattle, Washington, USA, May 16-20, 2009.
