WIPO Announces Withdrawal of Declaration under Madrid Protocol by Bahrain

GENEVA - The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) referred to the deposit by the Kingdom of Bahrain, on February 7, 2008, of a declaration according to Article 5(2)(d) of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of 1989.

In this respect, the Director General of WIPO stated that Bahrain has deposited, on April 10, 2008, a declaration according to which Bahrain withdraws, before its entry into force, its declaration made under Article 5(2)(c) but maintains the one made under Article 5(2)(b).

According to Madrid Notification No. 179 released by WIPO, the date of entry into force for the declaration under Article 5(2)(b), with respect to Bahrain, remains that of May 7, 2008.
