Sultan Qaboos Issues Royal Decree on Copyrights Law of Oman

MUSCAT - His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said issued, on May 4, 2008, Royal Decree No. 65/2008, which promulgates the law of copyrights and interlocution, according to Oman News Agency.
Article 1 of the decree stipulates that the law will be applicable to issues related to copyrights and interlocution.
Article 2 states that the Minister of Commerce and Industry will issue the implementing regulations for the law. Till the issuance of regulations, the prevailing laws and regulations will be applicable in such a way that they should not contradict with the provisions of the new law.
Article 3 cancels the copyrights law and interlocution issued by the Royal Decree No. 37/2000, and it also cancels all that contravenes and contradicts with the provisions of the law.
This decree will come into effect from the next day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
His Majesty also issued on the same date Royal Decree No. 66/2008, which promulgates the law of regulating the production of video CDs.
Article 1 of the decree stipulates that the law will be applicable to the issues related to the production of video CDs.
Article 2 states that the Minister of Commerce and Industry will issue necessary decisions to implement the provisions of the law.
Article 3 cancels all that contradicts with the law or its provisions.
The decree will come into force from the next day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
