AGIP Urges Clients to Rectify the Status of Their Trademark and Design Applications Filed in Syria

21-Apr-2008

DAMASCUS - The Syrian Trademark Office has recently issued a communiqué addressing all applicants who have pending trademark and design applications, including the relevant recordal applications such as assignment, merger and others, to rectify the status of their applications.

Due to the fact that such applications were filed under the previous Syrian Law No. 47 of 1946, applicants are given three months as of April 10, 2008, to complete the missing information/requirements; otherwise, those applications will be abandoned.

The communiqué, which was published in the Commercial and Industrial Property Protection Gazette, issue No. 8 of April 2008, also stated that the same grace period is given to all applications that are kept in abeyance in anticipation of the boycott declarations to be submitted.

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) urges all clients who have any pending or abeyant applications in Syria to provide AGIP Syria Office with the relative instructions/requirements accordingly in advance of the deadline.
