Madagascar Accedes to Madrid Protocol

GENEVA - The Republic of Madagascar deposited, on January 28, 2008, its instrument of accession to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks.
According to Madrid Notification No. 176 which was published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the said instrument contained the following declaration, “in accordance with Article 5(2)(d) of the Madrid Protocol (1989) and pursuant to Article 5(2)(b), the time limit of one year to exercise the right to notify a refusal of protection referred to in Article 5(2)(a), is replaced by 18 months.”
The Protocol will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Madagascar, on April 28, 2008.
