AGIP Opens Office in Cyprus: Expands Regional Reach

NICOSIA - As part of its global expansion strategy and with the aim of meeting the growing needs and expectations of its clients, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Cyprus.

Backed by a widespread network of 60 offices, the office provides a full range of integrated Intellectual Property (IP) services covering trademarks, patents, industrial designs and models, copyrights and domain names registration, prosecution, counseling, litigation and licensing.

The office, which is currently fully operational, incorporates a highly experienced team of IP professionals who can meet the IP portfolio management needs for all clients on both domestic and international levels.

“The establishment of a permanent office in Cyprus is a critical milestone in our strategic expansion in the region,” AGIP’s Executive Director Charles Sha’ban said.

“This is something that has been in the planning stages for some time; however, the strategic geographic location of Cyprus, its excellent commercial infrastructure and political stability have all contributed to making this decisive step,” he added.

Being a well renowned international business center and a member in the European Union, Cyprus has recently been working on updating the existing legislation relating to all areas of law, including IP, in an attempt to bring it closer to the European standards.

Cyprus is a member of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) and it has ratified numerous international conventions and agreements in the IP field, including the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property and the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks.
