Cyprus Supreme Court Rules in Favor of AGIP against SABA & Co.

10-May-2007

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property wins a 19-year old lawsuit against SABA

NICOSIA, CYPRUS - The Supreme Court of Cyprus, Appellate Jurisdiction issued its decision in favor of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) against SABA & Co. in a defamation case on April 16, 2007.

It has also ruled that AGIP is entitled to an injunction to prevent SABA from repeating such an action again in the future.

On May 30, 1988, AGIP took SABA & Co. to court when the latter, out of their headquarters in Cyprus at the time, wrote letters to many organizations, companies and individuals mentioning that AGIP, known then as T.M.P Agents, did not adequately protect the interests of its clients.

The Court has approved the claims of AGIP against SABA that the letters have constituted defamation.
