ACIPP’s Trademarks and Unfair Competition to be Held in Dubai

AMMAN - The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP), jointly with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Ministry of National Economy, will be holding the "Trademarks and Unfair Competition" course of the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner Program (ACIPP) May 7–17, 2007 at Novotel Hotel, Dubai.

The course will be held as part of the sub-regional ACIPP courses to be offered jointly by WIPO and ASIP.  The first course entitled “Copyrights and Related Rights" was held in Bahrain from March 19-29, 2007.

A final exam will be held at the end of the ten-day intensive course.

The course will cover topics related to trademarks, and will be conducted in Arabic.

ACIPP is a professional Arabic program offering advanced teaching and training for Arab practitioners. It aims to provide an easier understanding of modern principles that govern IP, as well as access to knowledge and international developments, so that the practitioner may be able to provide his/her services in line with international standards.
The program is comprised of four courses:

Module 1: Introduction to Intellectual Property

Module 2: Trademarks and Unfair Competition

Module 3: Copyrights and Related Rights

Module 4: Patents of Inventions and Trade Secrets

Upon the completion of each course, students will sit for a final examination.  Upon successful passing of the examination, they will receive a certificate.  When a student passes final examinations in the Modules, s/he will be granted the full Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner Certificate.
