BELGRADE - The newly separated republics of Serbia and Montenegro have been officially assigned individual country codes by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for use in multiple applications including Internet domain names, machine-readable passports and electronic financial transactions.
According to a press release by the ISO, the Republic of Serbia has been assigned the following two-and three-letter codes: RS, SRB, while the corresponding codes assigned to the Republic of Montenegro are the following: ME, MNE.
The State Union of Serbia and Montenegro was terminated in June 2006. The formerly combined Serbia and Montenegro's acronyms were CS and SCG.
