KUWAIT CITY - Kuwaiti authorities unveiled their strategic plans for combating software piracy in cooperation with the Business Software Alliance (BSA) and other international software anti-piracy groups, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
According to the Director of Publications at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, Qannas Al Adwani, the authorities will step up their campaigns aiming at protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) through a series of seminars, conferences and training targeted at specific societal segments, including IT resellers, public and private sector organizations, the student community and the public at large.
The campaigns will highlight the adverse effects of software piracy on the national economy - in terms of reduced IT investments and employment opportunities - and also stress on the disadvantages of using pirated software, such as poor PC performance, non-availability of vital technical support and rampant virus attacks.
