MUSCAT - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal signed on July 11, 2006 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), to enhance cooperation and strengthen ties in all fields of practice among the three professional parties.
One of the main objectives of the MoU is that AGIP and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal will be providing advice on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and related activities to innovators, inventors and upcoming individual enterprises that are incubated by The Knowledge Mine (TKM) - one of KOM’s branches.
Furthermore, both AGIP and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal will organize free-of-charge workshops on quarterly basis for KOM staff and members in the field of IP laws. These workshops aim at developing the trainees’ understanding of IP as well as promoting awareness and knowledge among members of TKM.
On the other hand, representatives from AGIP and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal will participate in KOM’s vital activities such as the annual TKM Big Business Idea Competition.
“Such workshops would offer AGIP and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal an unrivalled investment opportunity that will enable both companies to reach their target audience, featuring many of the country’s most influential corporate and government personnel,” National Marketing Manager at AGIP Oman Office Mr. Zaydoon Abu Qarmool stated.
“This partnership shall provide AGIP and Abu-Ghazaleh Legal with the opportunity to come within reach of KOM-based companies since KOM brings together a diversity of enterprises from industry niches with over 30 tenant firms located in the IT Park,” he added.
KOM, a technology park operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), is dedicated to supporting technology-oriented businesses in Oman.
