Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority Digitizes Grievance Committee Proceedings
CAIRO - The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) announced the digitization of grievance committee proceedings concerning decisions issued by the General Department of Trademarks and Industrial Designs. This move marks a key step in Egypt’s digital transformation effort under the National Digital Transformation Strategy and Egypt Vision 2030, aligning with the National Intellectual Property Strategy’s emphasis on modern, tech-enabled service delivery.
Key Changes
• Remote Hearings: Grievance committees now meet online, though in-person attendance is still allowed if the schedule permits.
• Online Documents: Applicants can submit supporting documents digitally, though some original or legally required paper documents must still be handed in person on session day.
• Session Recordings: All virtual meetings are recorded and stored on EGIPA servers for at least 90 days.
• Goal: The update supports Egypt Vision 2030 to make IP services faster, more transparent, and easier to access.
