Bahrain Adopts 13th Edition of Nice Classification as of October 1, 2026

MANAMA – The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced the adoption of the 13th edition of the Nice Classification, which took effect on October 1, 2026. The move aligns Bahrain with international trademark standards and enhances the efficiency and clarity of trademark filings in the kingdom.

The 13th edition introduces an updated classification of goods and services used in trademark applications, reflecting changes in technology, consumer markets, and global trade. Businesses seeking to protect brands in Bahrain will benefit from more precise categories, helping reduce ambiguity in applications and improving the consistency of trademark examinations. The ministry noted that the update will apply to all new trademark filings submitted from October 1, 2026, and existing registrations will be subject to the new classification framework during renewal or amendment processes, as required by Bahrain’s trademark regulations.
