29-Apr-2026

MUSCAT – Following our participations in the world IP day, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Oman office participated in a World Intellectual Property Day event organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion. The event, themed "IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate," brought together government officials, industry leaders, legal experts, and sporting organizations to discuss the role of IP in supporting innovation, brand protection, and commercial growth in the sports sector.

The event provided practical and strategic insights on using IP in sports, such as trademark protection for teams and events, patenting sports-related technologies, safeguarding designs and copyrights for broadcast and digital content, and enforcing measures against counterfeiting and piracy. AGIP Oman shared their expertise on regional IP best practices and provided guidance on registering sports-related trademarks and patents in the Gulf and neighboring jurisdictions. Panel discussions and case studies highlighted the ways strong IP frameworks can help athletes, clubs, and equipment makers unlock new revenue streams while maintaining integrity and promoting fair competition.
