16-Apr-2026

DUBAI - The United Arab Emirates has been recognized as the top global improver in intellectual property performance in the 2026 International IP Index released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The report evaluates the IP frameworks of 55 global economies, which together represent approximately 90% of global GDP. The UAE recorded the largest single-year improvement, with its overall score increasing by +4.72%, rising from 48.26% to 52.98%.

Regionally, the UAE ranked 4th in the Middle East and Africa region, reinforcing its position as an emerging hub for innovation and IP protection.

This improvement is attributed to ongoing reforms, including enhanced administrative efficiency, stronger enforcement mechanisms, expanded programs to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and closer alignment with international IP standards.

Overall, while 20 economies showed improvement this year, the UAE led globally in terms of score growth, reflecting the effectiveness of its long-term innovation and IP strategy.
