Morocco Joins WIPO Launch of Global AI Infrastructure Initiative

07-Mar-2026

AGADIR - Morocco announced its participation in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s new Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Interchange (AIII), joining a global effort to address technical challenges at the intersection of artificial intelligence and intellectual property.

Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to digital transformation and homegrown AI development, highlighting national programs such as “AI Made in Morocco,” which support startups, businesses, and research institutions in creating locally driven AI solutions. Morocco’s involvement in AIII signals its intention to help shape practical, technical approaches to rights management and content provenance in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The AIII initiative is designed as a cooperative platform for policymakers, technologists, creators, and rights holders to share expertise and pilot interoperable tools—rather than to create new legal standards. Key focuses of the interchange include watermarking, metadata systems, digital identifiers and content recognition technologies that can help distinguish human-generated from AI-generated works, enhance traceability, and protect rights. WIPO will convene a technical exchange network of experts from academia, the private sector and civil society to identify and test solutions for infrastructure needs tied to AI and intellectual property management.
