Qatar and South Korea Sign Contract to Prepare Qatar's National Intellectual Property Strategy
17-Dec-2025 DOHA - The Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) signed a contract with the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Agency (KISTA), as part of efforts aimed at developing the intellectual property ecosystem and enhancing the innovation environment in the country, a press release by Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The contract was signed by HE Undersecretary of MOCI Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki on behalf of the Qatari side, while HE Minister of Intellectual Property Yong Sun Kim and President of KISTA Byeongsoo Yoon signed it on behalf of the Korean side, in the presence of a lineup of officials from both sides.
Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Korea in the field of intellectual property, in a manner that contributes to building national capacities and benefiting from Korea's advanced expertise in developing innovation-supporting strategies.
Under the contract, KISTA will prepare a comprehensive national strategic plan for intellectual property, which will entail analyzing the current environment, setting the vision, objectives, and strategic priorities, in addition to performance indicators.
The signing of the project represents a strategic step toward developing an integrated national framework for intellectual property, contributing to enhanced economic competitiveness and supporting the transition toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy.
