AGIP Bahrain Boosts IP Awareness with Workshop Participation and University Lecture on Patents
20-Nov-2025 MANAMA - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) – Bahrain strengthened local intellectual property capacity last month by taking an active role in the “Intellectual Property for Export Development” workshop and delivering a specialist lecture on patents at the University of Bahrain. The engagements targeted businesses, entrepreneurs, and students to promote IP as a tool for competitiveness and growth.
At the Export Bahrain-hosted workshop, AGIP Bahrain’s marketing manager, Hamzeh Mobideen, presented on the strategic value of IP for firms aiming to expand overseas. He explained how registering trademarks and patents in target export markets helps secure legal protection, prevent infringement, and preserve brand value. Attendees included local small and medium enterprises, exporters, and entrepreneurs who took part in practical discussions about aligning IP strategy with export plans.
AGIP Bahrain’s workshop session emphasized actionable steps exporters can take, from conducting freedom-to-operate searches to prioritizing jurisdictions for filing. The presentation also covered cost-effective approaches for startups and growing firms, including phased filing strategies and the use of international filing systems where appropriate. Participants responded positively to the tailored guidance and case examples showing how protected IP can open doors in foreign markets.
Following the workshop, AGIP Bahrain continued its outreach with a lecture at the University of Bahrain focused on patent fundamentals and the patenting process. The session introduced students and faculty to patentability criteria, prosecution timelines, and the commercial implications of patent ownership. The lecture aimed to build a pipeline of IP-literate graduates who can better support innovation and technology transfer within Bahrain’s private and academic sectors.
These activities form part of AGIP’s continuing program to raise IP awareness, provide practical support to exporters, and nurture the next generation of innovators.
