Kenya Issues Pivotal Report on Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property
03-Feb-2025 NAIROBI – The Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry announced the release of the Second International Symposium on Intellectual Property Protection and Enforcement (ISIPPE-2) report. This vital document underscores Kenya’s unwavering commitment to combating counterfeiting and safeguarding intellectual property (IP) rights.
The report delivers essential insights and guidance on best practices aimed at enhancing IP protection and enforcement. Key recommendations include the establishment of a National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy (NIPPS), developed in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This strategic partnership is anticipated to significantly bolster the nation’s IP enforcement mechanisms.
The chairman of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA)’s board of directors welcomed the report, emphasizing that this collaboration, alongside the implementation of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority Integrated Management System (AIMS), will play a crucial role in reinforcing the frameworks necessary for effective enforcement of IP rights in Kenya.
With the release of this report, Kenya is taking definitive steps to strengthen its intellectual property protection framework. These efforts are aimed at fostering innovation, driving economic growth, and ensuring consumer safety across the country.
