1. Trademark search has to be done.
2. If no other registrations, an application has to be made with the Power of Attorney along with the trademark for registration.
3. The Trademark Office will issue an Acknowledgement Letter.
4. The Trademark Office will request to file papers for gazetting.
5. The Papers will be sent to the Translations Department to be translated to all 3 languages English, Sinhala & Tamil.
6. Once the translations are ready they will be sent to be gazetted.
7. If no objections, the certificate will be issued.
The detailed estimation of the time-span taking to register a mark in Sri Lanka is as follows:
1. Trademark Search to Tender of Registration Applications: 10 working days after we receive the above documents.
2. Publication of Trademark in Government Gazette: 18 months to 24 months.
