Summary

Copyrights and other related rights in the Dominican Republic are regulated by Law No. 65-00 of August 21, 2000.

The copyrights are composed of literary and artistic works, the literary or artistic form of scientific works, as it is established in article 1 of the referred law.

Copyright law is considered a right which is born with the creation of the work and therefore the registration of said right before the National Office of Copyright (ONDA), is used for publication purposes and for better legal grounds, but its omission does not imply any damage on the exercise or enjoyment of such copyright.

Copyright Requirements

1. Affidavit from the author duly notarized and legalized.
2. Power of Attorney duly notarized and legalized before the Dominican Consulate of the corresponding jurisdiction.
3. Assignment document duly legalized (if applicable).
4. Application from the National Office of Copyright.
5. Documents of the design to be registered, description and drawings.
