Jordan’s Industrial Property Protection Department Issues 20 Patents and Registers 999 Trademarks in Q1 2025

AMMAN - The Industrial Property Protection Department of Jordan announced that it issued 20 patents in the first quarter of 2025, including one filed by a domestic inventor. In the same period, the department registered 999 trademarks and renewed 1,608 trademarks, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting innovation and brand protection in the country.

In addition to patent issuance and trademark registrations, the department completed the renewal of 138 patents and processed five industrial property licensing agreements. It also handled 310 name and address modifications for registered properties and recorded 499 ownership transfers during the first quarter. These activities highlight the department’s ongoing efforts to maintain an efficient and transparent intellectual property system for businesses and inventors.

Last year, the department registered 5,687 trademarks and renewed 6,245, while granting 111 patents, including eight from local inventors. A patent, as defined by Jordanian law, is a creative idea developed in any technological field that solves a specific challenge, whether related to a product, manufacturing process, or both. The patent registration process involves detailed technical and formal examinations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and includes public notifications through official publications.
