Saudi Arabia Adds New Copyright Classifications

RIYADH - The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) announced that it added new fields in the Kingdom’s optional registration copyright service, in order to encourage talented individuals to benefit from IP services and maximize intangible assets.

The new classifications that include artistic and applied artistic works, photographic works, graphic works and stereoscopic topographic works, will be added to the categories already included in the service, in addition to computer software and apps, and architectural designs.

This move is expected to reduce registration fees for Saudi students, who can register and protect their inventions and benefit from the services offered by SAIP. Furthermore, it will support inventors by promoting their innovation in the Kingdom.

Individuals, who look to register, are advised to visit the official website of SAIP, and fill in the required data needed to register in accordance with the conditions, and finally pay the fees required for the completion of the registration and examination procedures.
