Jordan Joins the PCT

19-Apr-2017

AMMAN – The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has deposited, on March 9, 2017, its instrument of accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The said Treaty will enter into force, with respect to Jordan, on June 9, 2017.
The accession of Jordan to the PCT would benefit both local and foreign applicants, which would contribute to the increase of patent applications submitted to the Directorate of Industrial Property Protection, affiliate of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Any PCT application filed on or after June 9, 2017 will automatically include the designation of Jordan; and the Jordanian nationals and residents will be able to submit international patent applications  through the Jordanian Patent Office in Jordan.
