India Releases New Draft Rules to Amend the Patent Rules of 2013

NEW DELHI - The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India has proposed draft rules to further amend the Patent Rules of 2003.
The new draft rules have been published and shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of 30 days as from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
The Draft Rules provide for an expedited examination upon payment of a hefty official fee, shortening of time to respond to the First Examination Report from 12 months to 6 months, facilities like video-conferencing for official hearing, and 90% refund of official fee of request for examination.
