26-Sep-2013

RIYADH – Saudi Trademark Office announced that it has started receiving electronic filing of new trademark applications.

According to the Office, key attorneys and agents can file their trademark applications through the new system in Saudi Arabia which will be under testing for a limited period of time.

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) is pleased to be first agent to file an electronic trademark application in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

As a must, the new filing system requires uploading the legalized Power of Attorney to be submitted in original copy.

On the other hand, it is no longer acceptable to cover specific goods or services other than the items indicated in the International Nice Classification (10-Edition). Alternatively, it is possible to use the entire Class Headings of the International Classificlation (10-Edition).

The new filing system will capsulize the trademark registration process which may be complex and requires the necessity to meet many requirements within strict time deadlines.
