Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) Starts Accepting The Applications for Optional Registrations of Copyright Works

RIYADH – Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to draw the attention of its clients that the “Regulation for Optional Registration of Copyright Works” issued by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), Saudi Arabia has become into force as of December 23, 2019.
The registration of the following copyright works are covered by the new regulation and further works will be added in future:
1- Computer Software and Applications
2- Architecture Designs.
The official filing and registration fees range from U$ 14 to U$ 54 approximately (excluding the VAT) and the registration time frame is 60 days.
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia is a member of Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and the Saudi Copyright Law provides full protection of copyright works without registration, however, this new regulation allows for obtaining registration certificate.
