New VAT Rate Applied on IP Matters in Egypt

CAIRO – The Trademark Office in Egypt announced that all Intellectual Property (IP) matters (trademarks and industrial designs) are subject to the new Value Added Tax (VAT) of 14% applied in Egypt.
The new VAT rate will be applied on the official fees of IP services provided in Egypt.
Since the satisfaction of our esteemed clients is our top priority, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) decided to keep its total charges for all services unchanged despite the increase in the official fees.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt has approved the new Value Added Tax (VAT) law on August 31, 2016, and the law has been published in the Official Gazette taking effect on September 8, 2016.
