ABU DHABI – The Ministry of Economy in the United Arab Emirates issued the Ministerial Decision No. 51 of 2019 stipulating the reduction in the official fees of trademark registration and renewal. The reduction applies on both new and pending trademark applications.
The trademark registration fees have been reduced from AED 10,000 (USD 2,725) to AED 6,700 (USD 1,825) while the filing and publication fees remain the same. As a result, the total official fees from filing up to registration for one trademark in one class are AED 8,700 (USD 2,370), rather than AED 12,000 (USD 3,270).
As for renewals, the total fees (including the renewal filing and publication fees) have been reduced from AED 12,000 (USD 3,270) to AED 8,700 (USD 2,370).
The decision has been published in the official gazette and entered into force in the UAE as from July 7, 2019.
