Jordan Expected to Reduce Trademark Official Fees

10-Feb-2010

AMMAN - After the substantial and sudden increase on the official fees for trademark transactions in Jordan as of December 1, 2009, the Jordanian Trademark Office, affiliate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is expected to reduce the official fees, due to the drop in number of trademark filings and reactions from IP owners and agents.

This decision has been announced during the meeting of the Jordanian Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Hadidi with IP agents, which was held on January 6, 2010.

The new charges are expected to be published mid February 2010.

A ministerial resolution was issued on November 18, 2009 and ratified on December 1, 2009, amending the official fees and prices for transactions pertaining to trademarks, whether they are registration, opposition, or all legal procedures thereto, increasing upon the old fees substantially."
