Trademarks Regularization in Angola

05-Feb-2018

LUANDA - The Angolan Registry has requested the trademark owners to re-submit documents for all pending applications, renewals or recordals against trademarks with numbers 5,001 – 20,757 before December 26, 2018. Failure to re-submit these documents, will lead to the invalidation of the trademarks.

The documents required are as follows:

1. Power of attorney, incorporating a verified Portuguese translation, legalized up to an Angolan Consul.
2. Photocopies of the official filing forms, which include copies of the application as filed, with copies of any requests for renewal and/or any subsequent changes of ownership.
3. Certificate of incorporation/extract from the Commercial Register with verified Portuguese translation legalized up to an Angolan Consul.

This decision was started in 2015 when numbers 1 - 5,000 were the focus. The Registry is now continuing with this decision which aims to help regularize the official records, and improve the backlog. In the previous exercise, photocopies of the legalized supporting documentation were accepted provided that the authentication stamp was visible.
