Syria Joins Geneva Act of Hague Agreement

12 Nov 2007

DAMASCUS - A Legislative Decree under No. 404 was issued on September 26, 2007, by the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, approving Syria’s accession to the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs (Geneva Act of 1999).

Under the Hague Agreement, Syrian owners of industrial designs are given the possibility to have their designs protected in several countries by simply filing one application with the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in one language, with one set of fees in one currency (Swiss Francs).

The Hague Agreement will enter into force with respect to Syria in January 2008.
