Syria Signs an Agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization to Establish Technology and Innovation Support Centers

GENEVA - The Syrian Arab Republic and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed a cooperation agreement to establish technology and innovation support centers in Syria, a press release issued by SANA.

The agreement was signed at the organization's headquarters by Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations office and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Hossam El-Din Ala, and Darren Tang, the Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Ambassador Ala indicated that the creation of centers to support creativity and technology transfer in Syria would qualitatively improve the level of services provided to creators, inventors and researchers, stressing Syria's interest in encouraging and supporting Syrian creators and inventors through its keenness to continue holding the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention.

Ambassador Ala expressed his thanks to the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the organization's continued support for strengthening the intellectual property structure in Syria.

For his part, WIPO Director General Darren Tang expressed his happiness at signing this agreement, which translates the fruitful cooperation between the two sides, stressing the organization's interest in deepening this cooperation and expanding it to include other key areas.
