FAQ

A subdomain is additional information at the beginning of a website’s domain name and is considered to be a part of the main domain name. Such a subdomain is used to organize navigation between different pages of a website (i.e. support page, online store, blog).

The use of all the alphabetical letters from A to Z, all numbers from 0 to 9 as well as a hyphen (-) is possible for a domain name.

A domain name should be well representative of the related brand, and requirements for which the related website will be used; when choosing this name, mainly consider the two following points:
- Its extension (.com, .edu, .gov, .net, .org) depending on the type of your work.
- Its length, knowing that it is recommended to keep the name short in order to be easily remembered, while in general, it may include a minimum of two and a maximum of 63 characters.

A domain name is the name of a website (i.e. agip.com), while a URL is the complete web address for a specific page within a website (i.e. https://www.agip.com).

Before buying a domain name, brand owners should first check its availability by conducting a WHOIS search, and then its history to avoid the name being associated with any past negative activities that may affect their business.

As Country Code Domain Names are generally used to indicate a website’s relation to a specific country or region, they are beneficial to target traffic from a country or region of interest and increase the chances of the website appearing higher in the list of search results for a person in that country or region.
Moreover, Country-Code Domain Names may also help in establishing confidence from potential visitors to a website in the related country or region, as they may consider it as a local website through which it is easier to make transactions.
