The following information is required to proceed with the filing of an application:

  1. Name; nationality, and complete address of the applicant.
  2. Labels (preferably) in an electronic format or 25 labels with a size of 8 x 8 cms.
  3. Specific list of goods or services to be included in the application per class.
  4. Power of attorney document signed for an authorized officer of the company, before Notary Public, which must certify the legal existence of the company, as well as the ability of the person who signs this document. Patent Requirements

  1. The name and the address of the applicant.
  2. The name and address of the inventor and the title of the invention.
  3. A statement of ownership shall be furnished in cases where the applicant is not the inventor.

Claim of Priority

If priority is claimed, the applicant must furnish a certified copy of basic home patent, legalized up to the Consul of Costa Rica, in applications for a confirmation patent.


Five copies, in Spanish, setting forth the prior art and the best mode known to the applicant to realize the invention, and a mention of its industrial application.
